Noah really is such a good kid. We have no idea where he came from! (Wait! Let me set out a disclaimer here that ALL of our kids are fantastic & have attributes that amaze Tracy & Me) Noah has this drive that is so integral to his entire being. Really, he makes us tired at times with his ambition. This is all amazing to us and fun to watch as Noah grows, but today it was refreshing to hear another adult acknowledge what Tracy and I see in Noah on a regular basis.
Noah is playing for the Dodgers this season. He has a really ... enthusiastic Coach. Coach Shoe is silly & does lots of entertaining things for the kids as well as the parents benefit. He's just a nice man. Coach Shoe has raised his sons and has no more little kids, but he chooses to continue coaching Little League because he enjoys it so much**.
After every game, the kids huddle up and the Coach gives out award stickers for their batting helmets. Noah gets a sticker every time. Tonight was special though. Coach Shoe went on and on about what a steady and determined player Noah is. He was funny and said, "I can't wait to see this kid in high school! He's gonna be 6'4", 220 & one heck of a ball player!" Later he told me players like Noah were the reason he coached baseball and that Noah has a gift. It was really sweet! I was really proud! Proud to see Noah get recognition for his hard work. Proud to have been blessed with such a great kid. Proud to have been there at that time to share in Noah's good feelings.
Ball player or no - the kid loves sports. I am so grateful for people like Coach Shoe who sacrifice their free time to make a difference in a child's life. He sets a good example!
