The Past and Future

Noah's grade took a field trip to Chestnut Square on Thursday. Here is Noah standing on the porch of the oldest house in McKinney. It's over 150 yrs. old.

There are about six buildings at Chestnut Square that the kids get to see. In each one there is a Docent who tells the children all about the house as well as what life was like for the people who originally lived there.

One of the buildings is a school house. The kids get to sit in old desks & hear about all the horrors school beheld for Prairie children. Things like spankins and dunce caps, sharing a ladle for water, and not wearing shoes until the weather turned cold. Hmmmm ... maybe we'll start some of those traditions again to help people (and I mean parents as well as children) realize that education is a privilege and not a right!

The kids posed in front of the school for this pic - it's kind of eery, isn't it?
Lily was on the field trip with us. After an hour or so of being held and general good behavior, she was zonked out. I was able to enjoy strolling around Sam's with her like this:

Later, we went to Caldwell to have Thanksgiving Lunch with Noah. Is this a peek into Lily's future? You can't even see her for all the boys surrounding her vying for her attention. OH BOY!
