Fauxhawk

Have you noticed that I have a thing with combing Lily's hair into a fauxhawk? Noah asked me about this earlier in the afternoon. It went something like, "Mom? Why do you always comb Lily's hair in a mohawk?" Clearly, since I haven't shaved the sides of her head, she does NOT have a mohawk; however, I do have this thing with the fauxhawk.

Is it my ever-present obsession with Beckham? However tasty he may be, I don't think that 's it.
Is it my taste in men? My early on fascination with skater boys? No, surely I wouldn't let pre-adolescent crushes determine my baby girl's hairdo?!! After some thought, I think I've figured it out.

My fascination with baby fauxhawks comes from this:
Ah, the adorable Kewpie doll. It was my first "baby". Who knew that a hair style could transcend so many years and rear it's head (ha ha) on the head of child #3? So I have my very own, real life, Kewpie doll! I can hug and love on her just as much as I loved on my first baby doll. Only difference, besides the plastic vs. skin thing (and living vs. non-living thing), is that Lily's hair can be combed into a different style - rather than the permanent molded plastic fauxhawk.
