Stay Gone Mom

I love the title "Stay at Home Mom" because it's such an oxymoron. I'm hardly ever home.

This time I was gone for to perform a sad task. It was time for me to see my sister, Terry, one last time. Because she's gone through chemo and radiation & has the associated side effects, I'm posting a picture of us when we were six and eleven. She would like that much better. Terry is being moved to hospice today. She'll be much more comfortable. For the first time in weeks, she'll be able to see the sunshine and not be hooked up to so many tubes. This is a sad time; however, I'll take Terry's view on the whole shebang: she's ready to be free of sickness and to be released of that old body. I love you, Sister!
Tammy drove in to Nashville from Chicago on Saturday. Zane and Grayson got to hang out with Cousin Carleigh. Oh my kids were mad!!

I spent Sunday night with Anita & Carleigh. Here is Frisky, Carleigh's new kitten. She liked watching the final episode of Design Star with us.

On Monday, Anita, Carleigh, and I drove to Springfield to see Grant and his parents. Here is Nana and baby Grant:

Here is Grant with his Daddy - or as we used to call him, Matthew. I learned that I shouldn't do things like Baby Yoga with other people's babies. I think I freaked out Matt & Whitney - sorry guys!

Because I have a sweet, sweet family, they bought me a little cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to me Monday night. Thanks guys!
Now I'm home. I had the privilege of seeing how happy my own little family was to have me back. I guess I'll be a stay at home Mom for a little while. Going away allowed me to see how truly kind people are. Melvin and Beverly came out to Dad & Judy's to see us and give us hugs and laughs, Parents let me crash & talked through the ups and downs of the past few weeks, Sisters (and in-law) were near by phone or car to share tears as well as a few giggles, and even more family had a visit to share the joy of a new birth. This life is amazing! I feel so blessed to have such fantastic people in mine.
