As our tradition, we celebrated at breakfast. This year, Abby blew out her 12 candles on chocolate chocolate chip muffins - she was delighted!
We also discovered that the older the child, the more expensive the gift. Ouch! Noah and Lily gave her an ipod shuffle. Mom and Dad gave her Wii Fit. She was super excited & loved it all. Of course, all of our gifts were overshadowed by Grandpa & Grammy's gift of a cell phone. She is growing up now!
By the way, I do have pictures of her on her birthday; however, my camera died after one shot. The rest of her celebration in on Noah's camera ... so those pics are forthcoming.
Noah created his own birthday card for Ab with all sorts of creatures that are special to them both on it. She was so sweet - carefully opening the card, paying special attention to each drawing, giving him a big hug, and even taking notice of the carnival ticket he taped to the front of the envelope to look like a stamp. Noah was so pleased!
My creative contributions to this birthday are her "12" banner with ribbons and a letter the family gave her with "12 wishes" for her 12th birthday. Each of us wrote down three wishes for Abby (Tracy and I each contributed one wish on Lily's behalf & Lily scribbled her own secret wish). It was really sweet to watch Abby read her wishes. You could tell it meant a lot to her.
I can't believe 12 years ago, at 2:18 a.m., I made one final push and heard the doctor say, "I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!" At which I screamed, "WHY?!" He laughed and said, "Because she's a toddler!" When they put her on the scale, Abby weighed in at 9lbs. 13 oz.! The doc was sorry because he had dismissed my claims that she was a big baby. Before he delivered her, he looked at me, winked, and said, "8 pounds - tops!"
Love you Abigail Scout! I'm so proud you're my girl!
